Sheila Renee’ Hardin
AABWV’s 2006
Woman of the Year
Sheila Renee’ Hardin, Community Relations Manager,
Centre City Development Corporation, is AABWV’s first
“Woman of the Year.” Although she’s received numerous
awards from organizations such as Girls Scouts of San
Diego & Imperial County, The Catfish Club, The San Diego
Business Journal, and the YMCA, AABWV selected Sheila
Hardin because of her proud, professional and personable
representation of African American women in San Diego’s
business community. Well educated, well spoken, well
dressed, and well traveled, Sheila received national
recognition over 26 years ago as “One of the Outstanding
Young Women of America.” She’s lived up to, and
exceeded that acknowledgement. A constant friend and
supporter of AABWV, Sheila is celebrated throughout the
City, and across the nation, as one of the best and truest
friends anyone could have. Her passion and love for
people has also built solid friendships with people well
into their 80’s and 90’s. God bless you, Sheila. We love
and appreciate you! You are more than deserving.

Lionel, Edith, and Diamond Smith have been faithful
volunteers of the Urban League of San Diego, AABWV,
and many other organizations for years. They devote their
time and efforts and resources to the betterment of San
Diego’s Southeastern community, and the City at large,
setting a standard for family involvement and teamwork.
AABWV salutes and appreciates the Smith Family for their
on-going support, especially during our special events.

When this native San Diegan returned to town with his
ever present camera, Michael Norris, Mr. Instant
Photography, showed San Diego how beautiful we could
appear in a professional photographic image. AABWV was
blessed when he joined us as our photographer many
years ago. He single-handedly captured the essence of
our events, showing us, and the City, what we’re about,
what we look like and how beautiful we are, and how much
fun we always have! He’s used his 25 years of experience
in photography to patiently and generously work with, and
educate us, and to capture our special moments. We
couldn’t repay Michael for all he’s done for AABWV and
the City. Thank you, Mike Norris. We wish you God’s
speed as you expand your horizons. People will be
blessed wherever you go. Thank you for your prayers,
love and support. You’re the best!
