Overall Purpose: Ecologists and conservation scientists will gain knowledge and tools to effectively
contribute to the understanding and solving of conservation problems that have multiple stakeholders

Day One
Workshop Orientation and Brief Introductions: 4:00 - 4:15 pm

Session 1 - Skills for Collaborative Decision-making; 4:15-5:45 pm
Goal: To provide scientists with an understanding of the complexity of stakeholder processes and the
diversity of interest groups and perspectives in conservation decision-making and planning.

Break - Light Supper 5:45 - 6:00 pm
Session 2: Role of Science and Scientists in Decision-making; 6:00 - 7:00 pm
Goal: To identify the roles of science and scientists in collaborative decision-making and planning and to
identify strategies and tools that scientists can use to effectively assist these processes.

Day Two
Session 3: Practice in Collaborative Decision-making Analysis 4:00-6:00 pm
Goal: To provide scientists with practice in developing and implementing their unique academic,
scientific, and research knowledge and skills to contribute to collaborative conservation decision-making
and planning, and in evaluating the effectiveness of those contributions.

Goal: to identify criteria for effective participation in collaborative decision making and planning and to
