Kit Fee: $12 Includes work surface, outlines of techniques, templates, alcohol, poker, acrylic
paint, other necessary items.

 Acrylic roller for polymer clay(about 7 inches long) OR straight-sided drinking glass OR
clean (no labels) jar/bottle
 Small package/container of generic baby wipes
 5-10 Ziplock bags—snack size
 OPTIONAL-- needle tool, small sculpting tools, apron, eyeglasses
**Type of clay is very important. Clay can be bought online or at craft stores or at artist supply
stores. (Sculpey lll brand of polymer clay is not durable and is not recommended.) Please
ONLY bring the following 3 brands to class: Fimo (Soft or Classic)---Premo Sculpey--Katoclay
For Color Blends and Deep Impressions techniques – 1 block of White polymer clay and 1
block of Black polymer clay. 1 block each of 2 complementary colors with high contrast
between them. For example, Yellow clay and Magenta clay. Please bring 2 sets of these
colors. That means 4 blocks of 4 different colors of clay besides White and Black. (You may
share colors with a classmate.)
**Some extra polymer clay in a variety of colors will be for sale in class. Please show up to
class with some clay!
** Make sure the clay is somewhat soft before buying. Feel different packages and brands. If
the clay feels rock hard do not buy it. To save class time and wear and tear on your hands,
please condition some of your clay (at least ¼ block of each color you bring) about one week
before coming to class.
Condition clay by rolling it into snakes and then folding the snakes in half (you can fold one
more time, too). Twist the 2 snakes together and then roll a long snake out again. Repeat until
the clay is quite soft. Roll the clay into a ball and store in a snack-size Ziplock baggie. If you
any have questions about conditioning clay or a suitable work surface please email me.
**Also bring any varied polymer clay scraps you have from previous projects to play with.
**Do not leave clay in your car during hot weather because it starts to cure at 90 degrees F! If
your clay cures you cannot work with it. Take caution and only order clay online during cool
weather.
