Leisure and Tourism (Single Award) Examination Board CCEA Examination 40% Coursework 60% Leisure and Tourism has been designed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into employment mainly within the leisure and tourism sector. Course Content: The GCSE consists of FOUR compulsory units that are equally weighted. Two units are coursework based, through the production of portfolios, and two are externally assessed by a written examination. The four units are as follows:Unit 1: Understanding Leisure and Tourism Destinations The facilities and activities that make up the industry; how the leisure and tourism industries are linked and how they work together to offer visitors a good service. Unit 2: Marketing within the Leisure and Tourism Industry Key marketing tools used by organisations; marketing activities of leisure and tourism organisations; marketing activities of one organisation; production of an item of promotional material. Unit 3: Customer Service within the Leisure and Tourism Industry The importance of customer service for the leisure and tourism industries; the different needs of customers and how they are met; communicating with customers. Unit 4: Leisure and Tourism Destinations Planning holiday arrangements to meet different customer requirements Scheme of Assessment: One Tier Entry: Grades A* to G.
