Contrasting Leisure and Achievement Behavior A Group WebQuest Activity Recreation 304-Professor Dixon Department of Recreation, Parks, Tourism WebQuest Design Pattern: Concept Clarification Assignment: Students will visit the WebQuest Web site and read through the categories of the assignment. Student Preparation: Classroom Participation + Reading and Discussion + Classroom Written Work Students will visit the WebQuest Web site and read through the categories of the assignment. Process 1: Students are designated into groups of 1 students. Each group identifies 6 leisure-based situations and achievement-based situations for the three events in the life phase. Process 2: Students are jigsawed into groups of 6 resulting in 9 typical events for a life phase. Each group addresses 9 typical life events within a life phase, e.g. adolescence-prom, gaming, middle school, high school, sports, 6th grade camp, clothing, dating, hobbies, graduation, etc. Process 3: Each group reaches consensus for 5 leisure-based events and 5 achievement-based events using the WebQuest Rubric. Students present and evaluate PowerPoint presentations to class using WebQuest Rubric. Learning Outcomes Students learn to contrast, analyze, and synthesize information about leisure. Students learn how Piaget’s three developmental stages lead to successful adulthood. Students relate the role of leisure-oriented behavior to Piaget’s three stages of developmental behavior. Students learn to apply the “degree of behavior” and the use of “opportunity” to manage experience and address the quality of life.
