Following are the units that we will study this year in the order of study: Unit 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Required Materials Pen or pencil Graphing Calculator Straight Edge Topic Exponents and Exponential Functions Polynomials and Factoring Graphing and Solving Quadratics Quadratic Equations and Functions Radicals and Trigonometry Rational Expressions Statistics Probability General Classroom Requirements Be on time. Work on warm-ups when you enter the room. Have homework out to be checked. Bring calculator to class every day. Bring a pen or pencil to class every day. Grading Quarterly grades will be made up of warm-ups, homework, quizzes, projects, preparation, participation and tests. Each assignment has a point value, which is determined by Mr. Delans. The more points an assignment is worth, the more it will impact your grade. Most quizzes and tests are announced in advance on the unit outline. Warm-up activities at the beginning of each class will be collected. Each day is worth 2 points and the full credit is given for a good attempt of each problem. Warm-ups must be done in the warm up packet provided. Homework: Will be checked everyday and will earn you 2 points if all problems are attempted, 1 point if at least half of the problems are attempted or 0 points if less than half of the problems are attempted. A maximum of 1 point will be awarded for late homework. Each quiz and test will be assigned a number of points. For example, a test may be worth 100 points and a quiz worth 20 points. The more points assigned to an item, the more it will impact your grade. Your quarterly grade = total points earned and converted to a percentage. total possible points YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO MAKE CORRECTIONS TO ALL TESTS AND QUIZZES TO EARN BACK UP TO ½ THE POINTS LOST. (IE. YOU CAN TURN A 50% INTO A 75%) The overall grade for the year will be made up of each quarterly grade and the Algebra Regents exam. Each quarter will be worth 20% of your overall grade and the Regents exam will be 20% of your overall grade. Homework Homework will be assigned on most days and will be due the next class period. When you enter the class each day you should have your homework on your desk so that I can check for completion.
