____ Grafton Public Schools Special Education Department Arnold Lundwall, MS Ed, BCBA Special Education Administrator WE LCOME B ACK ! Date: August 19, 2015 To: All Parents / Guardians of Students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Dear Parents / Guardians: I do hope that everyone had a great summer and that everyone is ready for the 2015-16 school year. It seems like June was just here a day or two ago. In the coming weeks, parents and guardians of students who receive Special Education supports will receive a welcome letter from Special Education Liaisons so that you know your child’s primary contact person for matters involving I.E.P.’s. As in years past, we have Team Chairpersons assigned to each building who are also available to answer questions as well as develop Team meeting schedules as required for children in Special Education. Below is an outline of each Team Chairperson’s assignment for your reference. Through the link for Special Education, you will find general information as well as related links. Updates will be posted throughout the year regarding general department news and events. Parent involvement is critical to making our programs achieve our goals for all students receiving special education services. Therefore, I invite each of you to participate in the Special 1 Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC). Our SEPAC is an active and invested committee dedicated to the improvement of Grafton’s Special Education Department. Last year we held meetings on the third Thursday every other month from 7:00-9:00pm at Grafton High School. This year, plans are to continue with that schedule of meetings. Mr. Derek Perrotta is the current SEPAC Chair. Should you wish to reach out, his email address is: graftonspedpac@outlook.com. Another valuable resource is the SEPAC website located at: http://graftonspedpac.wordpress.com/. The first meeting of the SEPAC this year will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 7:009:00pm in the Media Center (2nd floor) of Grafton High School. Enclosed is a copy of the Parents Notice of Procedural Safeguards for you to review and reference. We are required to provide you with a copy of this document on an annual basis. In an effort to support a reduction in paper use, this will be the only copy provided to you this year. Copies of this document will also be provided to parents and guardians of children going through the evaluation process. The document can also be accessed on the Grafton Public Schools’ website under the Special Education link as well as through the Special Education link to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) website.
