No: Date of Issue: Issue: Page: SMS/PH/J 003 12/01/12 1 1 of 2 JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Senior Pharmacy Technician (Narcotics) RESPONSIBLE FOR: As Below ACCOUNTABLE TO: JOB DESCRIPTION: Director and Deputy Director of Pharmacy 1.0 JOB SUMMARY: To assists to procure, store and dispense the Narcotic drugs in hospital pharmacy unit under the supervision of Head of the Pharmacy. 2.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 2.1 To assist with In-Patients and Out-patient dispensing of Narcotics and controlled drugs according to the AFHSR Policies and Procedures of the Department and the Hospital. 2.2 To assist with stock control of Narcotics and controlled drugs within the pharmacy, according to the Policy and Procedure of the Department. 2.3 Assist with ward stock supply of Narcotics and Controlled drugs and assumes responsibility for the Narcotics and Controlled drugs stock on the ward which they are assigned to. 2.4 Helps with stock of Narcotics and Controlled drugs supply to other Pharmacy sites. 2.5 Reports all stock supply of Narcotics & Controlled drugs needs for appropriate action in order to maintain adequate stock levels for dispensing needs. 2.6 Assists the Director of Pharmacy, the Assistant director of Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacists, to identify and solve departmental problems and areas of need for service development. 2.7 To help supervise the technicians in their duties. 2.8 To able to use the Pharmacy computer system for dispensing and for stock management. 2.9 Assists in the preparation of near expiry Narcotics and Controlled drugs list and liquidation of soon expiry drugs. No: Date of Issue: Issue: Page: SMS/PH/J 003 12/01/12 1 2 of 2 Senior Pharmacy Technician (Narcotics) 2.10 Maintain a variety of records related to Narcotics and Controlled drugs related to pharmacy activities, as required by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 2.11 Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy. 3.0 HOURS OF WORK: 48 hours per week. 4.0 REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications or Relevant Experience: 5.0 4.1 A degree in Pharmacy, B.Sc, B. Pharm. or equivalent. 4.2 Five (5) years working experience as a Pharmacy Technician 4.3 A valid license to practice in pharmacy from Saudi Council of Health Specialties. 4.4 Ability to operate and care for automated dispensing devices and equipment. 4.5 Knowledge of Pharmacy information system, basic inventory procedures. 4.6 Good command on Arabic and English.
