Requirement: 2.40 Subject Requirements: English IA English IB Math (any transferable course) 4 Courses in at least two of the following disciplines: Arts/Humanities/Social Sciences/Biological Science/Physical Science ******************************** Selection Criteria The MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS, as stated above, DO NOT GUARANTEE ADMISSION to the campus or major of your choice. Some campuses receive more applicants than they can accommodate. Therefore, each campus will determine what will be the “Selection Criteria” to admit students beyond the minimum eligibility. Students will be selected upon availability of space in the Major, Department, or Division/School/College and/or choice of campus. Each campus identifies students who have demonstrated the capacity for high academic achievement and promise, and who have a variety of other qualities than can contribute to the strength and diversity of the campus community. The following criteria is listed in the order of importance and is usually in the Comprehensive Review for the selection and admission of students into their chosen campus or field of study: 1. Major Preparation – Completion of Lower-Division coursework for intended major 2. Higher GPA – A more competitive g.p.a. will demonstrate your ability for higher academic achievement. 3. Personal Statement/Essay and Application – Additional information used to provide a more accurate picture of the applicant, such as extra-curricular activities, well defined goals, accomplishments, aspirations, challenges, etc. 4. Completion of General Education or Breadth Requirements (e.g. IGETC) CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY (CSU): Unit Requirement: 60 transferable units (maximum 70 units from community college) G.P.A. Requirement: 2.00 Subject Requirement: “The Golden 4”: English Language Communication and Critical Thinking – Area A of CSU General Education Requirements or Area 1 of the IGETC -9 units and Mathematics – Area B-4 of CSU General Education Requirements or Area 2 of the IGETC – 3 units plus 18 units of additional general education courses within the CSU General Education pattern or the IGETC ********************************** Selection Criteria Several of the CSU campuses can not accommodate every applicant that meets minimum eligibility. The following criteria is listed in the order of importance and is used to screen for the selection of students into their chosen campus or major. 1. Service Area: California Community College transfers are given priority by their local CSU campus. 2. Supplemental Application – Requesting additional information regarding academic and major preparation, and possible extra-curricular activities. 3. Completion of AAT/AST or ADT: Approved transfer programs that also provide California Community College Students with an Associate’s Degree. 4. Higher G.P.A. – A more competitive G.P.A. will demonstrate your ability for higher academic achievement. 5. Completion of General Education or Breadth Requirements (e.g. CSU GE or IGETC) _______ Note: Subject requirements for admission and major preparation courses must be completed with grades of “C” or better.
