JOB DESCRIPTION Position Department Reports To Location Purpose Graduate Engineer (150515) Engineering Engineering Director Ely, Cambridgeshire, UK To become competent in the design, build, test, commissioning of a wide range of broadcast related projects in the UK or overseas and working towards Project Engineer status. Overview of position The Graduate Engineer can be viewed as a trainee for the positon of Project Engineer. It is expected that the position of Project Engineer will be attained after a period of 1 year. Below are the functional accountabilities and Job specification for a Project Engineer which should act as a guide to the expectations after the first year. The graduate will be assisted in obtaining project engineer status with a mixture of formal training, on the job training and by gaining experience of the companies procedures and business systems by working in other departments, such as proposals. It is expected that the graduate engineer will have a degree in a technology based subject, have good communications skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and work equally well as an individual or as part of a team on a wide range of projects both in the UK and overseas. Functional Accountabilities To attend project start up meetings with the Project Manager, Sales representative and the customer. To work alone or as part of a project team in order to produce & issue accurate and detailed system design information, schematics, cable schedules and layouts. To attend regular design review meetings with the customer. To assist the project manager to achieve project design sign off from customer. To specify and release for order the required equipment & materials associated with the project in line with the project requirements. If required, to produce manufacturing information (mechanical, wiring etc) for custom units or panels. Gareth Evans Page 1 2/12/2016 To carry out system tests which may involve equipment configuration. To update and produce accurate, ‘as built’ documentation for the customer at the end of a project. To monitor timescales and costs associated with the projects, and to keep the Project Manager informed of any adversity. Person Specification Qualifications Required: Educated to at least degree level standard (Engineering/Technology degree) or appropriate professional qualification Experience Preferred: Broadcast related degree. Desirable: Recognized Broadcast/IT industry qualifications and certificates. H&S qualification. Required: Having worked in an engineering capacity in the broadcast industry. Preferred: Proven track record of engineering broadcast projects. Ability to produce accurate technical information and presented in a professional style to dB standards with a clear attention to detail and quality.
