Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune – 411 008 (An autonomous Institute under Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government. of India) (Advertisement No. Per/2/2006) The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) is a registered society as an autonomous Institute fully funded and administered by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. Recognized as a National Centre for Climate Research, the IITM is a leading research center with scientifically and academically stimulating environment for research in applied and fundamental aspects of ocean-land-atmosphere interactions in the tropics. The Institute derives its strength from co-existence of a group of scientists on theoretical and modeling studies together with a large group of scientists on diagnostic studies and field observations. It has excellent infrastructural facilities such as high-performance computing, library, workshop and support for field experiments. IITM has very strong interlinks with the India Meteorological Department, the University of Pune and several other relevant national/international organizations. For more details, please visit the Institute’s website (http://www.tropmet.res.in) The Institute is in search of bright young talented candidates of Indian origin for the following positions to do research in the areas of developing a dynamical prediction system of seasonal mean monsoon rainfall, extended range prediction of active and break spells of the monsoon, science of climate change, urban air pollution & transport modeling and interaction between clouds and environment.
