ITINERARY
Day 1 – Fly to Los Angeles. Upon arrival in Los Angeles, embark on a brief city tour
with a stop at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Later today we arrive at our
home for the next four nights, the Marriott Courtyard Inn located in Marina del Rey.
Gather this evening for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2 – This morning after breakfast, we have the opportunity to view the spectacular
floats which will be featured in the famous Tournament of Roses Parade. This afternoon
we travel into the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains and visit the J. Paul Getty
Museum which features a magnificent, world-renowned collection of pre-20th Century
European paintings, sculptures, illuminated manuscripts, decorative arts, and
photographs. Later today we return to our hotel for a leisurely evening. You may wish
to visit nearby Fisherman’s Wharf, a quaint and colorful New England-style complex
featuring specialty shops and restaurants.
Day 3 – This morning we travel to Long Beach and embark on a guided tour of the
Queen Mary, one of the largest luxury passenger liners ever built. Following the tour,
enjoy a special group luncheon on the Queen Mary. This afternoon travel to Garden
Grove and enjoy reserved seating for the spectacular show, The Glory of Christmas.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a special group dinner at a local restaurant – what a great
way to ring in 2009.
Day 4 – Today we attend the 119th annual Tournament of Roses Parade. Enjoy reserved
Grandstand Seating for this memorable event. This prestigious event which is the
traditional prelude to the Rose Bowl features nearly 100 floats decorated with masses of
roses and other colorful flowers. Following a lunch stop at the Original Farmer’s Market
we head south along the scenic El Camino Real to lovely San Diego. En route a stop will
be made at Mission San Juan Capistrano. Enjoy a delightful two-night stay in Old Towne
San Diego.
Day 5 – This morning following breakfast we embark on a delightful sightseeing cruise
through the San Diego Harbor. Later today passengers may choose to visit the famous
San Diego Zoo (entrance fee not included) or historic Old Town San Diego. This
evening we gather for a special farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 6 – Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before transferring to San Diego
International Airport for our return flights home.
