JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Clinical Psychologist – Complex Female Personality Service Responsible to: Accountable to: Consultant Clinical Psychologist Clinical Lead Hours: Salary: Location: Full Time (37.5 Hours) £38,000 (dependent on experience Specialist Adult Service – Complex Female Personality Service JOB SUMMARY AND KEY OBJECTIVES The newly opening service will specialise in treating people with more than one diagnosis which may include Personality Disorder (PD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The post holder will be expected to contribute to the development of the new service, providing clinical expertise to the team. The unit will consist of a 14 bedded unit, 12 on the main unit and 2 in flats in the main hospital building. The team will consist of a full multi-disciplinary team, including a Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Dietitian, Occupational Therapist, Psychotherapists and RMNs. Clinical supervision will initially be with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist within The Retreat. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for providing a specialist clinical psychology input in the unit. This will include individual assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation. The post holder will pragmatically draw on the full range of clinical psychology theory to aid assessment and intervention approaches as relevant to this client group while also offering specialist psychological therapy and skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Consultant Psychiatrist Clinical Lead 1 MAIN CLINICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Key Objectives of the post holder: Contribute to the multi-disciplinary team services Contribute to the development of the new service Carry an individual caseload, under supervision, providing appropriate psychological assessment and therapy Manage this caseload including formulating, planning and evaluating interventions Provide, in agreement with teams, additional psychological group therapy to complement the existing group therapies and community meetings Assist in the development of the teams psychological formulation and therapeutic skills Support other members of the team, providing consultancy and training as appropriate Participate in a programme of continuing professional development and annual appraisal. CONSULTATIVE WORK AND TEAM WORKING To consult to colleagues of the multi-disciplinary team on psychological aspects of clients’ assessments and therapy plans To attend MDT meetings and CPA reviews To offer leadership to the teams on the development and maintenance of a therapeutic environment To attend and engage with team supervision and development activities To attend Psychology Department meetings To participate in other meetings or committees as necessary PROVISION OF TEACHING, TRAINING AND SUPERVISION To contribute to the training and supervision of Assistant Psychologists To provide teaching and training sessions on psychological assessment and intervention to staff groups and teams To contribute to the teaching, training and supervision of Trainee Clinical Psychologists CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT To engage in continuing professional development (CPD) in line with recommendations of the British Psychological Society To maintain a CPD log To engage with Retreat procedures for guiding and monitoring CPD for Clinical Psychologists To undertake further specialist clinical training as required and to optimise the skill mix available to the teams To engage with regular individual and group clinical supervision To attend to personal support and development needs ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES 2 To record client contacts and assessments according to the policies of The Retreat, using FACE computerised system To keep other notes and records as may be necessary to clinical psychology professional practice, using paper and/or computer systems To provide written reports on psychological assessments, formulation, therapeutic progress and outcomes for colleagues and referrers ACCOUNTABILITY To comply at all times with professional standards of behaviour to meet the requirements of both the policies of The Retreat and the guidelines and Code of Ethics of the British Psychological Society To maintain eligibility for the register of Chartered Psychologists (or replacement) The post holder will work autonomously and will manage his/her own workload. However, he/she will also be accountable through the line manager to the Clinical Lead and Leadership Team of The Retreat Matters discussed with the clinical supervisor will remain confidential. However, should the clinical supervisor have cause for concern about the post holder’s practice then he/she is required to share these concerns with the line manager The post holder will engage with a process of annual appraisal, according to Retreat policy for Clinical Psychologists.
