This Sub-specialty training post in Interventional Radiology is aimed at radiology trainees who possess a national training number in radiology and have successfully completed at least 3 years of radiology training with satisfactory ARCP/RITA outcome. The aim of this post will be to support training for a CCT in Clinical Radiology with Interventional Radiology Sub-specialty subject to satisfactory outcomes in Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP). There is one post available and appointment will be by application and competitive interview. The training will be according to the RCR Interventional Radiology Curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain the FRCR during the course of this training (if this has not been already achieved) and also pass the European Board of Interventional Radiology exam. Training in a full range of vascular and non-vascular Interventional Radiology procedures will be provided. The training can be individually tailored to the post holders training needs. The trainee will use the RCR eportfolio and actively engage in RCR WpBAs and Interventional Radiology Procedural Based Assessments. As per RCR requirements for a CCT with Interventional Radiology subspecialisation, the trainee will defer CCT by one year and will be awarded the CCT with IR subspecialisation at the end of year 6 based on successful ARCP outcomes. The successful candidate will have achieved general radiology competencies in ST1-ST3 and this post will aim at gaining higher level 1 and level 2 competencies in Interventional Radiology skills.
