May 15, 2015 The Board of Directors of the Cedar Foundation called a meeting on Thursday, May 14, 2015, in Dr. Bartley’s office at 5:44 PM. The following Cedar Foundation members were present: Marianne Bartley, Ed.D., Ms. Deb Gingrich, Mr. Bob Hoffman, Mr. George Horn, Mr. Mike Kuhn and Dr. Jeff Yocum. Mr. Cornell Wilson, Ms. Kate Brunelli, Ms. Michelle Hamilton, and Ms. Sharon Swanger were absent. Also present was Anne Brubaker, Foundation Assistant. District personnel present - Mary Harrell, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and School Board Secretary. Ms. Gingrich called the meeting to order at 5:44 PM. Mr. Kuhn made a motion, seconded by Mr. Hoffman to approve the minutes from the meeting held on Thursday, April 9, 2015. All members consented. Dr. Yocum made a motion, seconded by Mr. Kuhn to approve the financial report from April 9, 2015 to May 13, 2015, with the recommendation that remaining grant money be put back into student and staff awards, as presented. All members consented. Fundraiser – May 15, 2015 Ms. Gingrich mentioned that about 100 tickets were already sold. Guests may pay at the door and Deb will be there to collect. Music, drinks and food will be available. Friends Helping Friends The Board discussed the Friends Helping Friends fundraiser, held on October 20, 2015, and it was decided that we should participate. Students will also hike the Quittie Creek Nature Trail and visit the Trash Museum. 1st – Dr. Yocum The fifth grade students will go on a field trip to Knoebels Anthracite Museum and park. Students will explore the Coal Region’s history and the history of one of America’s oldest continuously operated amusement parks. 1st – Dr. Yocum K4 teachers at NW would like to provide 4 books to all K4 students. She will be traveling the country to compete in prestigious and highly competitive tournaments. Molly Payne, Grade Student 8th $345 Molly is a music honor student and she will be attending the MADD (Music, Art, Drama and Dance) camp at the Hartman Center, Camp, Conference and Retreat Center. Campers will have the opportunity to be involved in a series of workshops with real working professionals in each discipline.
