Year of Studies 4,5 Semester 3 ECTS Credits 2 hours Contact Hours per Week compulsory Compulsory/ Elective During the course various teaching and learning methods are used: Methods of Teaching theoretical lectures, individual and group work, active reading and writing methods, discussions, situation and case analysis and assessment, personal experience analyze (reflection), role play. Theoretical lectures are combined with practical tasks that are done independently, presented and analyzed in groups during seminars. Total examination mark (100% - 10 points): active participation in Form of Assessment lectures and seminars – 10 %, preparation of individual tasks and their presentation in a group – 40 %, exam-test – 50 % Title of the Study Program Title of the Module Faculty, Department Course Description Social work theory and practice program presents social work as professional activity conception and provides its historical development, discusses main social work theory paradigms and social attitude towards human development systematic models. Social work process, interpersonal and multi-personal interactions, means of intervention in people’s interactions, ways and methods are analyzed according to social systems’ theory. Family, as social system, problem, social work with family principles and methods are discussed. During the course students learn to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, analyze problem solution process and application of practical social problem solution methods, analyze human behavior and social functionality, its advantages and ways of empower. Social work speciality students get acquainted with social communication styles and ways, professional competence characteristics, social work specialist training and re-skilling system. In order to know themselves better as main social interaction with client subjects, students analyze personal needs and attitudes, values, origins, personality features and skills and prepare self-cognition and self-improvement study which consists of person’s development scheme, family tree, assessment of personal needs and skills, strategies for professional features and skills improvement and foreseen technology.
