2012 renovation advisor – “Rivers” Mural, Culver City, CA; 214’ x 6’, Tile, Mosaic, Acrylic Mural
Commissioned 2000 by L.A. Proposition "A" Grant. Lead artist Students were paid to design and produce the
mural. Extensive classroom skill set training and curriculum development.
2011 – “Express Yourself with Expressionism City Hall Mission Viejo, CA; Acrylic Painting, 9’ x 5’
Escalera designed and directed volunteers to paint original artwork at “Artes de Vida” community event.
2010 – “Day to Night” Mural at Syd Kronenthal Park, Culver City CA; Acrylic, 85’ x 6’
Re-commissioned by Culver City to repaint original 1999 youth at risk mural.
2009 – “River Life,” Camino de la Reina, San Diego, CA; River Park Mural, 220’ x 7’
Commissioned by the San Diego River Park Foundation, Escalera designed and directed approximately 150
community volunteers to paint the mural in one weekend.
2009 – “Pieces of Picasso,” City Hall Mission Viejo, CA; Acrylic Painting, 6’ x 5’
Commissioned by City, Escalera lead community volunteers to paint the cubist original artwork.
2009 – Ballona Creek "Postcards from Ballona", Culver City/L.A. County CA; Acrylic, 75' x 5'
"Postcards" Culver City re-commissioned Escalera to lead community effort to repaint the original artwork
created in 1997 with two artists, community volunteers and Culver City Middle School's mural class.
2008 – “On the River Trail,” at PCH, So. San Diego, CA; River Park Mural, 216’ x 8’
Sponsored by SDRPF, Escalera design and led 80 community volunteers to paint mural over weekend.
2008 – L’onda di Tessera, The Wave Waterpark, Vista CA; Mosaic Kite Installation, 3.5’ x 5.5’
Commissioned by Vista Art Commission, the kite is part of art series of urban kites around downtown area.14’

City of Vista/SDGE commission - at the historic Santa Fe Depot site on the SDGE transformer building.
2007 – 4 Small Tile Murals, Sister City Org.; Culver City CA; each mural, 18” x 24”
Four small hand painted tile artworks; Hangs at the Veterans Memorial Building, donated to the City.
2006 – Zia’s Bistro, Little Italy Street Painting, San Diego CA, Mural 8’ x 8’
Little Italy Association commission for Chalk Art Street Painting project. A permanent outdoor chalk pastel art
installation, protected by 11 coats of sealant, in Little Italy District of San Diego.
2004 - Boys and Girls Club Tile Artwork, Oceanside CA; (5’ x 3’) tile, & painted mural, (9’ x 6’)
picART 501c3 commission; Artist worked with 45 youth (6 to 18); One mural in acrylic paint; the other in hand
glazed tile. Escalera instructed the youth in all facets in design and production.
2001 - Libby Lake Tile Mural Project, Oceanside CA; Youth at Risk Painted Tile Murals
Park renovation, anti-graffiti, youth and community involvement project; Artist went into the local community
and designed a project that reflected the character and identity of local community to mesh with needs of the
greater community. 5 murals (3’ x 5’) and 12 tile insets measuring - 16” x 16”
