TATA STEEL JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Infrastructure DIVISION/BUSINESS UNIT: BIM & Digital Product Platform Manager, Construction and Marketing DEPARTMENT & LOCATION: Warwick, UK REPORTS TO: Head of Marketing, Construction and Infrastructure JOB HOLDER'S NAME: New Position 1. PURPOSE OF JOB To manage, maintain and develop the Digital Product Platform and BIM implementation for Construction & Infrastructure across Tata Steel, and support development of selected new market and business opportunities relating to digital product information. 2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES To work with the Construction & Infrastructure team, National, Product and Business BIM Champions to provide and maintain accessible digital product information to support market requirements for all identified products and to integrate the information into business as usual. Lead the development of internal awareness and capability of BIM and digital product information across the business, with the support of the National, Product & Business BIM Champions. Close liaison with R&D to ensure TSE capability and positioning is correct and appropriate. Manage the link with the marketing communications team to ensure the Digital Product Platform is integral to external communications relating to construction & infrastructure, including the construction website. To work with industry partners to continually develop and maintain our digital product offering, including appropriate new software platforms and applications, and act as the main point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders relating to BIM and the digital product platform for construction & infrastructure. To manage the analytics of objects accessed by the market and, with the market insight and construction & infrastructure teams, develop solutions to exploiting this information to create new project and customer leads. Actively support the development of Tata Steel’s Digital Strategy, and in particular the development of a Product Information Management (PIM) system to provide a single source of information relating to products to provide consistency across communications. Manage the research and present identified potential growth opportunities in new and potential digital services and channels that will enable a step change in the achievement of revenue and profit targets. CONTEXT Marketing is a group-wide function that leads the development of competitive strategies for all market sectors. Through generation and capture of market and customer insight, the function is responsible for product pricing and management, branding and promotion. Marketing is responsible for the sector product, service and strategic direction in the medium to long term as well as brand and marcoms. Influence extends to the sector sales, business development and other functions such as Operations, R&D and Demand Planning. The Digital Product Platform Manager is a key player in the Construction Marketing team, reporting directly to the Head of Marketing – Construction and Infrastructure. The role is primarily responsible for developing and enhancing the digital product offer for Construction and leading in making strategic choices necessary to deliver profitable and sustainable market share growth. The creation of clear process definitions, templates and toolkits together with the sharing of best practice will be necessary to develop broader functional competence within the sectors. Construction is a key sector for steel accounting for around half of the global demand. The sector is broad and diverse resulting in many complex inter-relationships, competing priorities plus local and international drivers. Within Tata Steel the Sector has not realised the potential demonstrated by the market opportunity and the results realised by other organisations. The requirement is to establish what the Tata Steel offer should be and how to undertake it to realise this potential. Skills Knowledge 4. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES Digital Product Platform Manager will be a developing business manager, commercial or technical person with experience of working collaboratively within industry wishing to gain experience in a game-changing technology A first degree together working towards a relevant post-graduate qualification such as an MBA Experience of Market and product development with a number of key projects completed with successful results The role holder should have good interpersonal and project management skills coupled with an analytical bias and a capability to dimension and detail a new opportunity for future growth and business expansion. It is essential that the jobholder have developing influencing and diplomatic skills, capable of being used with customers, suppliers and colleagues alike being comfortable to develop concepts and challenge more senior group managers.
