We engage with organisations and communities in London through a range of practical initiatives to reduce, re-use and recycle waste. Based in Walthamstow in East London, we have been in operation since 1989. All our work and activities are supported by volunteers. FRP’s paint reuse project The Paint Place collects surplus, leftover paint from Re-use & Recycling Centres and commercial companies. The paint is then sorted, quality-checked, re-mixed if need be, and sold as a sustainable, low-cost alternative to new paint, including for lower income customers, community groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations. The right candidate will help develop and drive forward our marketing strategy and plan for The Paint Place and also help deliver specific marketing activities such as identifying and following up leads for paint sales, promoting the project at events, and growing our online presence (website and social media). Tasks and Responsibilities: Developing a structured marketing strategy and plan for our paint reuse project Developing a social media strategy, including development and management of social media Securing and maximising PR opportunities, including development of press releases and arrangement of photo-calls Managing and updating the FRP website Assisting with event management and delivery of promotional activities at events 1 25th September 2013 Researching and following up paint sales opportunities, contacting organisations by telephone/email Data logging and updating of the contacts database and other spreadsheets Developing marketing materials as required, liaising with designers Distributing marketing materials, and identifying avenues to promote the project Collating information and producing short case studies General administration and communication duties Other relevant tasks to assist the team as required Person specification: Area Experience Essential Relevant marketing qualification or experience Social media and blogging networks, their use and management (Facebook and Twitter) Working independently and as part of a team Admin work Skills and abilities Qualities Other Desirable Graphic design Website development & maintenance (Wordpress) Working in social enterprise setting Working with volunteers Excellent spoken and written English Excellent oral and written communication skills Good interpersonal skills Well-developed ICT skills, competent use of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel Good organisational, prioritisation and time management skills Commitment to the aims and purpose of Forest Recycling Project and our reclaimed paint project Flexible approach to the job ‘Can do’ attitude Self-starter with a sense of initiative Creative Reliable, efficient and resourceful Excellent attention to detail Commitment to personal learning and development Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends Ability and willingness to travel to events across London 2 25th September 2013 What we can offer you: This is an opportunity to work with one of the UK’s largest Community RePaint projects, and one of London’s longest running community reuse charities. This role would ideally suit a recent marketing graduate seeking to gain valuable experience and hands-on knowledge of environmental and social projects in a community setting. This is the first time this internship has been offered so the right candidate can really make it their own, including developing and driving forward our marketing strategy and plan. We provide an induction and regular supervision sessions with your line manager to ensure you are getting the most out of your internship.
