
Soil erosion processes, assessment, and control

Mechanism and techniques of ecological rehabilitation

Sustainable soil and water resource management in semi-arid areas.

Improved water use efficiency in dry-land farming systems.

Impacts of global climate change on soil erosion and dry-land farming

New technologies in soil conservation and dry-land agriculture.
Acceptance of Conference Papers and Proceedings
A collection of abstracts will be distributed during the conference. The proceedings
will be printed after conference. The proceedings will consist of keynote speeches and
accepted papers. The collection of abstracts will be available at on-site registration desk.
Presentation of Papers
Presentations will be arranged either by oral or by poster.. Authors should confirm in
the registration form and should note the required equipment for presentation. 15-20
minutes of speech and 5 minutes of discussion will be available for each oral presentation.
For each poster two standard boards will be provided. The Secretariat takes the
responsibility of putting the posters during the conference.
Deadline for Full Articles Submission
Articles of no more than 6 pages (A4, in word format) including tables and figures
should arrive at the Secretariat by August 31, 2006. The manuscript should be prepared
following the format guidelines provided by the Soil Science Society of America Journal.
Mid-conference Technical Visit
On October 4, 2006 participants will be invited to visit the Rainfall Hall, the Breeding
Tree Base of Controling Roots and the Exhibition Garden of Water-saving Equipments,
etc.
Post-conference Tour

Tour A: One-day. US$ 30 per person.
Route: Yangling – Fufeng – Qianxian – Yangling. Visit to Famen Temple and Qian
Temple

Tour B: One-day. US $ 45 per person.
Route: Yangling – Lintong – Xi’an– Yangling. Visit to Museum of Qin Terra Cotta
Warriors and Horse and Shaanxi Province History Museum.

Tour C: 3-day. US $ 120 per person.
Route: Yangling – Changwu – Ziwuling – Ansai – Huangling – Yangling. Visit to a
field ecological station of dryland farming, a reforested area anda field station in soil
and water conservation of Loess Plateau as well as visit to an emperor’s tomb.
4. Registration
Participants of the conference are requested to register before July 20, 2006 by
postal mail, E-mail or fax. The registration form has been sent in the previous circular. The
conference registration fee is US $ 240 (student registration fee: US$ 140). It covers the
costs of international academic exchanges, abstract collection, transportation between
Xi’an Xianyang Airport and Yangling and social activities (reception, banquet et. al.). The
cost of post-conference tour is not included in it.
5 . Method of Payment

Bank Transfer
Registration fee and tour fee can be paid in US dollars or EUR that equivalent to
value of US dollars and should be made payable by bank transfer before August 31, 2006.
Remittance must be net, i.e. exclusive of bank charge and currency exchange
commissions. If the payment was made before August 31,2006, you will only pay US
$ 200 (student registration: US$ 100) for registration fee.

6. Official Receipts
Participants may ask the formal receipt on the registration desk.
7. Accommodation and Venue Information
The accommodation venue will be reserved at Yangling International Convention and
Exhibition Centerl. The Secretariat would be pleased to assist participants for
accommodation upon your requests.
8. Information of Traveling to Yangling

Transportation
Yangling is located 85km to the west of Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi province. There
are highway and railway between Xi’an and Yangling. The participants can go to Xi’an by
train or plane. The Organizing Committee of SEDF 06 will meet the participants at Xi’an
Xianyang Airport and Xi’an railway station from 8:00-22:00, October 1, 2006. If you take
taxi, please tell taxi driver “please take me to Yangling Huizhan Zhongxin, Thank you!”

Confirmation of Return Air Ticket
The return international air ticket should be confirmed 72 hours in advance.
Confirmation can be made to the airline office in Beijing or ask the Secretariat for help.

