New Program - Nurse Residency

Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Newnan, Georgia is pleased to offer an extensive 1year Registered Nurse (RN) Residency Program to new nurse graduates employed at CTCA. This formal,
structured post-baccalaureate new graduate program is part of the University Health System Consortium
(UHC)/American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Nurse Residency Program™. Through a
series of learning and working experiences, the Nurse Residency Program will prepare new graduates in
the successful transition from student to confident professional in their chosen career path of nursing.
Program Highlights
 A 12-month program to smooth transition into practice.
 A series of thoughtfully developed classes that will enhance skills in critical thinking, assessment,
leadership and clinical decision making.
 Participation in this program is a part of the regular work assignment. Nurse residents participate
in monthly seminars over a 12-month period.
 Understanding that Evidence Based Practice is at the forefront of nursing excellence, participants
will have the opportunity to identify, develop and implement an Evidence Based Project during
their residency program.
 Classroom instruction specific to the clinical area using a focused case study approach to learning.
 Use of clinical simulation to foster effective critical thinking skills.
 Clinical preceptorship under the guidance of an experience clinical coach.
 Ongoing continuing education and professional development opportunities.
 Dedicated education specialists are available both during and following the program.

specifically as RN Residency positions in the following areas: Medical-Surgical, Intermediate Care,
Surgical Services (Peri-Op), Urgent Care, and Pain Management. Please apply for only one position; all
applicants meeting minimum requirements will be interviewed. In addition please complete the letter of
intent (page 3) to ensure our RN Residency Program Coordinator is aware of your interest.

 Application accepted March 25, 2015 through April 17, 2015
 Interviews conducted April 20, 2015 through April 30, 2015


Applicants notified by May 8, 2015
Program start date: June 1, 2015
Minimum Requirements
 Baccalaureate degree in nursing obtained within 6 months of program start date
 No prior work experience as a registered nurse (RN)
 Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
 Must have Georgia RN License by program start date
 Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card
Employment
 If selected to participate in the RN Residency Program you will be hired into a full time, benefited
position on the specified nursing unit.
