Product - Creature Hats: Coastal Creatures Have the students choose a “coastal creature” from a list you hand out. (See below for suggestions of organisms to put on the list.) Take the students to the library or computer lab so that they can research their organism. The students should then prepare a presentation to the class on their organism that includes the following: 1. A “Creature Hat.” This hat should be designed so that others can recognize the organism. 2. An oral presentation on the organism which includes: a. Kingdom b. If an animal, whether a vertebrate or an invertebrate, and which major group it belongs to (spiny-skinned, mollusk, etc.). c. Habitat, including what type of water it lives in, if any. d. What does it eat? e. What eats it? f. 2 interesting or unusual facts about the organism. 3. A short poem about the organism. The presentation will be graded according to the Rubric.
