Exhibit opening June 9 – “Apple Parers in America” - Apples have
been a part of the American diet for centuries and the tools used to process them
have evolved simultaneously. This exhibit follows the evolution of the handoperated apple parer featuring the vast collection of Charles Michaels. Exhibit is
located in the Mill’s Cider Gallery.
13th Annual Antique Engine Show & Fly Creek Day Tent Sale
August 25 & 26 – Enthusiasts from the region join together to display restored
gas engines and farm machinery of the past. Feel the rhythm of old-time engines
as the Mill features its “one-lung” power display. The Mill hosts the Show, Papa’s
Antique Engine Club sponsors it, and it's free to the public. On Saturday the Mill
will hold its annual inventory reduction tent sale in conjunction with Fly Creek
Day, a community-wide celebration with yard sales, food vending, entertainment
and special activities.
Cooperstown Rotary AppleFest September 22 & 23 –The Mill’s most
popular festival featuring Music, Antique Tractors, Apples and Family Fun hosted
by the Cooperstown Rotary Club and sponsored by regional businesses. The
festival welcomes apple lovers, antique and classic tractor enthusiasts, and
families to the Fly Creek Cider Mill to enjoy live music, sponsors' exhibits, a
tractor show and games. Sponsorship opportunities are available through Rotary
at 607-547-4149. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm Saturday and 12 to 5 pm Sunday,
donation fee, free parking.
Big Squeeze Weekend September 29 & 30 - In observance of Breast
Cancer Awareness Month, the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard will host Bassett
HealthCare’s Mobile Mammography Program. Information regarding breast
cancer and early detection through the use of mammography and about the
health benefits of apples will be distributed. The Program staff will be available
to answer questions or to schedule appointments.
Fly Creek Cider Festival October 6 & 7 - Enjoy autumn's most flavorful
beverage, cider, at the peak of Upstate NY’s spectacular fall foliage. Observe
cider making operations throughout the day using the Mill’s vintage equipment
dating back to 1856. Sample our cider made without modern technology that
provides a taste of NY’s water-powered past. Entertainment will be scheduled at
a later date.
Wassailing Weekends November 17 - December 16 - The Mill will
offer demonstrations on how to make Wassail, the traditional holiday drink.
Savory spices are blended with the Mill’s famous sweet cider to make a hot
beverage that is perfect for the Holidays. View the Mill Store's holiday displays to
find that perfect gift.
Holiday Gift Basket Workshop December 1 & 2 - Create a memorable
holiday gift basket from the Mill’s wide array of Fly Creek Cider Mill products
including fudge, preserves, sauces and salsas. Bring your own basket or box, or
select one from the Mill’s attractive inventory. Mill basketing experts will be on
hand to assist you in creating a gift that is sure to please by adding just the right
item for everyone on your list. 10am – 2pm each day.
Super Solstice Sale December 15 & 16 - The Mill ends its 151st season
Sunday, December 16. Product discounts are available to last minute shoppers
as the Mill liquidates retired inventory.
Sunday Sounds – Sundays, Noon until 4:00PM 8/19, 8/26, 9/2,
9/9, 9/16, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28 (If heavy rain/snow exists
Ody’s performance will be cancelled)- Join comic lyricist and
impressionist, Ody B. Goldy as he entertains guests with his humorous tributes to
well-known performers. Name the song and writer and you might win some fresh
cider.
Red Hatter Fridays- Red Hatter clubs are encouraged to tour the Mill on
Fridays in June, July and August. See website for specific club promotions,
discounts and menu features.
