ECPT30 LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY REGULATIONS FOR THE DIPLOMA IN ECONOMICS : ECPT30 These Programme Regulations apply to the conduct of the programme in the 2011-12 session and should be read in conjunction with University Regulation XX and the relevant Module Specifications. These Programme Regulations may be subject to change from time to time. Notice of change will be given by the School responsible for the programme. 1 Structure 1.1 Administrative responsibility for the programme rests with the Division of Economics within the School of Business and Economics. 1.2 The Programme leads to the award of Diploma in Economics or Diploma in Economics with Distinction. 1.3 The Programme will normally be offered on a full-time basis commencing at the beginning of each academic year. 1.4 The minimum period of study for the award of Diploma in Economics is two semesters. 2 Content 2.1 Five modules which take place throughout Semester 1 and Semester 2: CODE TITLE ECP001 ECP002 ECP003 ECP004 ECP005 Interpretation of Data and IT Macroeconomic Analysis Microeconomic Analysis Econometrics Quantitative Methods MODULAR WEIGHT 20 30 30 20 20 All modules are compulsory and add to a total modular weight of 120. 2.2 Exceptionally and with the permission of the Programme Director or Deputy Director of the School (Economics) a candidate may be permitted to replace either of ECP001 (Interpretation of Data and IT) and ECP005 (Quantitative Methods) with available modules from the list of undergraduate modules taught by the Division of Economics within the School of Business and Economics, but only if timetabling permits this. ECPT30 3 Assessment and Award 3.1 Modular credit corresponding to the weight of a module shall be awarded to a candidate who achieves an overall mark of 40% in that module 3.2 The Diploma in Economics shall be awarded to a candidate obtaining 100 modular credits with grade E in a further module worth 20 credits. 3.3 The Diploma in Economics with Distinction shall be awarded to a candidate obtaining 120 modular credits and an overall weighted percentage for the programme of not less than 70%. 3.5 Candidates who have the right of re-assessment in a module will have the opportunity to be re-assessed in the University’s Special Assessment Period (SAP) providing they have accumulated a minimum of 60 credits. 3.6 The marks for all re-assessed modules will be capped at 40%.
