The post holder will work as part of the Information & Support service and be the lead person for the: development of our helpline, on line forum, support groups and support for people affected by lung cancer. You will work closely with colleagues in our information team and directly manage our part time Involvement Officer and sessional nurses. The role is dynamic and varied, requiring good organisational skills. The post holder will be required to work in collaboration with a range of teams and external agencies. You will be part of the Information & Support team in Glasgow, but the post will involve regular travel across the UK. Hours: 34 hours per week Location: Glasgow Office, city centre Line manager: Director of Information & Support Overall Objectives To provide high quality support through telephone contact with helpline callers To monitor and respond to activity on our online forum, cultivating this as a source of virtual support To act as the primary contact with the networks of Lung Cancer Nurses and other relevant professionals to identity and respond to patient support issues To work with the Director of Information & Support and the Clinical Director to identify and address policy issues on patient experience and treatment To develop our network of 50 support groups, linking with facilitators, providing written and face to face contact To assist the Senior Administrator in responding to contacts via our Patient Grant programme To line manage the Involvement Officer, supporting face to face contact with patients and carers to develop engagement and feedback To support the Involvement Officer in identifying patients and carers to act as “Voices” on behalf of the charity To develop the profile and quality of our support services throughout the UK To provide submissions in response to patient consultation around new medicines, treatments and awareness campaigns To work with colleagues in the Information & Support team to identify ways to reach people affected by lung cancer To assist the Involvement Officer in co-ordinating and delivering face to face meetings with groups of patients/ carers To promote the Foundations services through external relationships, partnerships and by providing evidence of impact. The team works closely with our Smoking Cessation, Research, Finance & Retail, Fundraising and Marketing teams based in Liverpool. Our main activities include: distributing information designed to help people with lung cancer; running a helpline and online forum; supporting 50 support groups across the UK; running training and events for Support Group facilitators and for people affected by lung cancer.
