WESTBROOK LADY BURIED MONDAY
Mrs. Pauline Thomsen Died At Age of 83 Years. Came To This Country In 1889
Mrs. Pauline Thomsen was born in Jutland, Denmark, on February 2, 1853, and departed
from this earthly life on October 16, 1936, being at the time of her death 83 years, 8 months
and 14 days of age.
Mrs. Thomsen spent her childhood and young womanhood in Denmark. In the land of her
birth she was united in marriage to L.P. Christensen in the year 1885. To this union 4
children were born: 3 daughters and one son, of which three daughters are still alive, the son
having met death, in an automobile accident in 1918.
In 1889 Mr. and Mrs. Christensen and family emigrated to America, coming directly to
Cottonwood county. They were among the early settlers here and experienced many of the
hardships of pioneer life.
Ten years after coming to this country in 1889, Mr. Christensen passed away from this life to
meet his Creator, leaving to mourn his departure his wife and four children, for whose wellbeing she then became solely responsible.
In 1900 Mrs. Christensen was united in marriage to Jens L. Thomsen, with whom she was
permitted to share life's sorrows and joys until 1927, when he also went to meet his God. No
children were born to this union.
Mrs. Thomsen leaves to mourn her departure three daughters: Mary Christensen, who was
with her mother until the time of her death. Mrs. Norman Jacobson of Gary, Indiana, and
Mrs. Chris Davison of Oregon. Also 11 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends
in the Double Lakes community where she spent so many years of her life.
Funeral services were held in Immanuel Baptist Church Monday afternoon, Rev. S.P.
Anderson officiating and burial was made in the Storden Baptist Cemetery.
Newspaper spells it “Thomsen”; should be “Thompson”
