Standards for Use of the Montgomery
College Libraries
The Montgomery College Library is committed to providing its
students, faculty and community patrons with quality service and an
educational setting that is conducive to study and research. As a
unique instructional learning environment, it offers a facility with
appropriate technology, resources, and staffing in support of
curricula and educational pursuits.
Personal Conduct
In support of its mission, the Library asks that its patrons conduct
themselves in a manner that is respectful of the rights and needs of
all Library patrons. Each Montgomery College Library patron should
expect:

a food- and litter-free facility,

an environment free of disruptive behavior or harassment,

books, newspapers, magazines, and other resource materials that
are not damaged, and

access to technology for the purpose of study or research.
By approval of its Board of Trustees, Montgomery College Policies
provide specific direction on the use of its facilities and resources
and the general behavior that is expected of its community
members. These policies are universal and apply to all College
campuses and learning facilities. Specific policies that apply to the
use of the College Library include but are not limited to:

CP 66001 Acceptable Use of Information Technology

CP 42001 Student Code of Conduct

CP 75005 Children on College Premises

CP 75001 Use of Facilities

CP 75003 Restriction on Tobacco Smoking and the Sale of
Tobacco Products
Each of these policies is available on the main page of the College
website www.montgomerycollege.edu by clicking on Official
Policies and Documents. Policy violations may result in disciplinary
action as outlined in each of the specified policies.
The Library also promotes a positive learning environment by
asking its patrons to abide by the following Library guidelines:

All users of Library technology should understand their
responsibilities as stated in CP 66001 Acceptable Use of
Information Technology. This policy applies to all the College’s
technology resources including computers, printers, and software.

Areas designated for quiet study should be respected.
Adherence to the above College policies and Library guidelines is
critical to promoting quality use of library resources and successful
learning. In the event of a violation of established College policies
and Library Use Standards, MC will seek the appropriate action in
response to the violation.
