Admissions Counselor and Web Specialist

(Two Positions Available)
The Department of Admissions and Recruiting at McNeese State University welcomes applications for the following two
(2) positions: Admissions Counselor and Coordinator of Prospective Student Experience and Admissions Counselor and
Web Specialist. These positions will work closely with faculty and staff to assist prospective and current students. These
are full-time, 12-month, unclassified positions with an appointment that begins February 26, 2014.
POSITION: ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR AND COORDINATOR OF PROSPECTIVE STUDENT EXPERIENCE
Position Description and Responsibilities: The Admissions Counselor and Coordinator of Prospective Student
Experience is responsible for:
Duties









Represent McNeese at recruiting events
Conduct campus tours
Schedule group and individual campus tours
Provide input for recruiting materials
Provide input for recruiting activities
All duties shall be conducted in a manner which provides a positive reflection of the University
Enter information and index in BDM
Coordinate Preview Day activities for Prospective Students
Coordinate telecounselor training
Administrative Responsibilities
 Enter prospect data into the database as instructed by the Director
 Correspond via e-mail and the U.S. Postal Service with prospective students
 Stay up-to-date on how to check applicant data in the Student Information System (SIS)
 Answer phone and assist callers
 All duties shall be conducted in a manner which provides a positive reflection of the University
 Evaluate campus tours and make recommendations to director
 Evaluate trending in higher education recruiting and make recommendations to director
Supervisory/management responsibilities
 Supervise telecounselors and ensure they perform all duties
Policy Making Authority
 Provide input on all University and departmental policies as requested by the Director
Reporting Requirements
 Maintain recruiting reports for all recruiting events attended
Working Relationship Requirements
 Maintain a positive working relationship with faculty and staff in all departments
 Build a mutually beneficial positive working relationship with your assigned high school counselors
 Build a mutually beneficial positive working relationship with counterparts at other universities
Committee Responsibilities
 Represent the department or University on campus and community committees as assign
Budgeting Responsibilities
 Plan recruiting travel according to state travel guidelines

Download inquiries from website and upload into student information system
Monitor web trends and advise director of improvements

Qualifications: Required: Bachelors Degree, strong verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of MS Office
Suite, and ability to plan travel according to state budget guidelines. Preferred: Experience working in a team
environment conducting presentations.
Salary: $30,000.00
Deadline: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until position is filled.
