Comprehension strategies to improve literacy
Targets
85% of pupils will achieve an average reading score (a standard score of 90%) or above.
60% of pupils improve personal reading standards by at least 5 standard points.
Pupils demonstrate that they understand what they have read by being able to answer questions on
books read.
Pupils can demonstrate use of comprehension strategies across many curricular areas.
Pupils can use a dictionary/reference to find out meanings.
Pupils read more library books at their own reading standard and report that they enjoy reading.
