Job # 4 (Cost): It is your job to determine the cost to paint the entire house. Remember
though while the labor is free, because I will be doing it myself, I have to pay for more
than just paint.
The paint brushes cost $11.97 for a pack of three. Drop cloths, so I don’t get paint on
the floor, cost $21.95 for 4 the size of a queen size sheet. A box of rags cost $7.95, the
spackle cost $3.95, and the paint cup costs $4.85. I can buy a paint rolling kit which
contains a roller, a rolling pad, a paint tray and a reusable paint tray for $19.99. One
rolling pad is now enough so I will need to purchase a lot more, about 4 packs at $6.95
each. I also need a few more rollers for when my family helps me, they cost $12.56 each.
I also need some sand paper to sand the spackle before I paint, this is inexpensive at 95
cents a pack. Last but not least I will need painters tape to tape the edges, it costs $7.95
and I need two rolls.

Job # 5(Details): I want to thank you for helping me determine the cost for painting my
house and the colors I will paint my room. But before I end my painting extravaganza I
want to add some detail to the house.
a) I want to paint a circle enclosed inside a square. I want to design a clock inside
the circle. The square will have a length of 3 feet. What is the area of the circle
for my clock? What is the area of the square?
b) Using pencil and string I drew the circle first. It has a diameter of 7 inches. What
is the area of the circle and the square inscribing it?
c) I am still not happy, so I draw another circle with a circumference of 10π. What
is the area of the circle and the area of the square inscribing it?
d) If it takes Ben four and a half hours to paint my living room and it takes Shelby 3
hours to paint the same room, how many hours will it take them to pain the room
together?
