You should be prepared to report on the outcome of your award project at Neuroscience Day, if required. Guidance Notes This fund was originally created in 2008. It has been used to help further the career development of early-years researchers, and bring added benefit to research in the wider Edinburgh Neuroscience community. In 2014 the University of Edinburgh ISSF fund provided additional support to allow the Neuroresearchers Fund to continue through 2015. As a result of the new funding source, the Neuroresearchers Fund is changing slightly and will no longer be supporting local workshops or travel to summer schools. We are seeking proposals that are innovative and interdisciplinary and that will lead to applications for independent funding. Each year in April, proposals will be invited. The budget to be disbursed in 2015 is £5,000. Proposals are invited that are innovative and interdisciplinary and are designed to produce outcomes that bring benefits to the neuroscience community in Edinburgh. This award is highly competitive and applications should be completed to a high standard. This Fund will not support running costs for research projects or salary. The following are examples of proposals that will be considered (this is by no means an exhaustive list): Study visits to establish new research collaborations (up to £2000) Training visits to international quality laboratories or research groups to learn new techniques not available in Edinburgh (up to £2000) Applicants are encouraged to contact Edinburgh Neuroscience or a member of the committee for informal advice in advance of submitting an application. Current members are: Cathy Abbott (Molecular Medicine Centre), Peter Brophy (Centre for Neuroregeneration), Sue Fleetwood-Walker (Centre for Integrative Physiology), Jane Haley (Edinburgh Neuroscience), Stephen Lawrie (Psychiatry), Matt Nolan (Centre for Integrative Physiology), Beverly Roberts (Centre for Cognitive Ageing & Cognitive Epidemiology), Peter Sandercock (Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences), Thomas Suslak (Student Member, Informatics) Completed applications should be returned to Edinburgh Neuroscience by 30th April 2015. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of May; proposals should be completed within a year or the funds may be forfeited if an extension has not been agreed. edinburgh.neuroscience@ed.ac.uk Edinburgh Neuroscience University of Edinburgh 1 George Square, Edinburgh EH8 9JZ
