Record 3: Standard procedure for milking treated cows or cows
with abnormal milk
Note 1: Give the milk in the 4 vats to the calves. This milk comes from freshened cows,
treated cows and cows giving abnormal milk.
Procedure for abnormal milk:
 In the morning and in the evening, refer to the following reports:
o Cows late for milking
o milk conductivity report
 Conductivity report: Pay special attention to results marked with an asterisk which
correspond to a conductivity of 10% higher than the cow’s average, and visually
examine the cow’s udder and/or the initial streams of milk from this cow.
 If the milk is in fact abnormal, follow this procedure in the T4C software
program:
o Go to the FARM tab at the top left and the PLANNING tab at the top of
the screen
o Enter the animal’s ID number at the bottom left and press ENTER. The
animal’s chart will appear on-screen

Record 3: Standard procedure for milking treated cows or cows
with abnormal milk
Procedure for treated cows:
Before administering any medicine to an animal, the treatment must be recorded in
the T4C software. To do so, follow the steps below:
 Go to the FARM tab at the top left and the HEALTH tab at the top of the
screen
 Enter the animal’s ID number at the bottom left, and press ENTER (the
animal’s chart will appear on-screen)
 Then, in the page showing the information on the animal, click on ADD –
DIAGNOSTIC
 Select the treatment for the animal
 When this page appears, enter the date on which the milk pickup can resume
and click on CONFIRM at the bottom right
 Once this important step has been completed, you may proceed to treat the
animal.
Procedure for treated dry cows
 If unfortunately, a treated dry cow freshens earlier than expected or aborts
before the cow is activated in the software so as to collect its milk in the
main tank, you must determine the milk compliance date, taking into
account the withdrawal time for the medication used, the start date of the
dry cow treatment and the anticipated calving date.
Procedure for the purchase of a new cow:
 If a new cow is purchased, test its milk and ensure that it meets provincial
regulatory requirements before shipping the milk. Record the test results
(Record 10) and make sure that the result is negative for the presence of
antibiotic residues before milking this cow and putting the milk in the tank.
If the test result is positive, see SOP 5.
