Some of the Special Clinicians and Performers include: Blanco and Cynthia Royal Blanco: Arguably one of the most well-known equine characters to ever grace the big screen, Blanco is best known for his role as Gandalf the White's legendary horse Shadowfax, in the Lord of the Rings movies The Two Towers and Return of the King. He has also been featured in the wellknown Hercules TV series, numerous commercials and the soon to be released Hercules movie. A purebred, white Andalusian, Blanco is a liberty-trained trick horse, known for his ability to work without restraint, performing to voice and visual cue. Bred in Australia and imported from New Zealand, he now permanently resides in the Unites States. He has the staring role as The Dream Keeper in the upcoming Las Vegas show IMAGINE - Discover The Fantasy, a live theatrical production bringing the fantasy of creatures of myth and legend to life. Cynthia Royal: IMAGINE Co-Founder, Equestrian Director, Owner/Handler of ‘Blanco’: Exposed to Hollywood and movie star animals at an early age by the legendary horse trainer of Trigger and The Black Stallion, Cynthia Royal has been riding and playing with horses since early childhood. A lifelong animal trainer of domestic and exotic animals, her primary love has been working with horses. Announcer Alan Barnes of Horses Etc. Inc. Our company will develop over the coming years to include the importation and marketing of equestrian products and livestock transportation, in conjunction with our Cargo business ICECORP. One of the most exciting adventures we’ve had to date with Horses Etc. Inc., is to produce the Extravaganza for Paul Maguire’s Can-Am Equine Emporium. The Extravaganza show is a two hour evening performance musical tribute to the horse, with up to a dozen equine acts. Horses Etc. Inc. lines up the acts and produces the show, including the music and choreography, ring crew and video promos. We took the show to Nova Scotia last year and this year’s schedule includes both London, Ontario and Truro, Nova Scotia. Marc-Andre Blouin was born in Quebec City. While he was growing up his father bred and trained Standardbreds. As a teenager he competed in Quarter Horse shows and show-jumping. Marc-Andre has attended Equine Nutrition and Physiology Symposiums and numerous other equine nutritional conferences in Canada and the United States during the last ten years. He presented at the International Conference on Equine Exercise Physiology in 2002. In addition, he presented at many other equine conferences organized by Purina and other groups such as the OEF both in Canada and internationally. Marc and his wife currently own and train Thoroughbred racehorses as a hobby. There is a quiet revolution sweeping through the horse world as back yard horse lovers to high level competitors achieve better harmony with their horses - without using a bit. Flags flying splendidly in the wind, the sound of thundering hooves...the proudly patriotic Canadian Cowgirls burst into the arena with a presence that brings the audience to their feet! The team has galloped into the hearts of fans nationwide, garnering some of the most prestigious awards and honors in the industry. The Canadian Cowgirls have been honored with the 2006 "Ontario Sports Award" for outstanding contribution to sport in Ontario! Stunning, Starlit, Signature Celebrity's - Lights, Camera, Cowgirls! Gayle Ecker conducted research in the area of exercise physiology, with an emphasis on the physiology of prolonged exercise. She has presented an extensive number of seminars and articles for the horse owner. While promoting education and working with the Office of Open Learning, Gayle developed the Equine Science Certificate program. In her current role as Senior Manager of Equine Guelph, she is involved in the education and communications program for the Equine Industry. Melanie Fiske of Fiske’s Horse Care Products moves forward with the same integrity and commitment to quality that her father, Leon Fiske did, a guardian for decades of the recipe for Fiske’s Hoof Lotion. Although I will never be known for my great horsemanship skills, I have a great love for horses and have been around them since I was born. Over the years I have owned a few horses, and to this day I believe that the Fiske’s Hoof and Hide Balm played a huge part in saving the life of one of these animals. Dee Hinson began riding lessons at the Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers as an adult, where she first met Philip. In 1977 she went to England to study for her British Horse Society Assistant Instructor, which she achieved in a period which was regarded as unusually short for a North American student. On returning to Nova Scotia in 2001 she runs Rhaman Equestrian Services with her husband Philip, where she is actively engaged in their joint boarding ,training, judging and clinic activities. She also runs a small pony club group from the stables for local children in the summer months. Philip Hinson has been a British Horse Society Instructor (full) since 1967. He began his riding career in the King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, where he obtained first his British Horse Society Assistant Instructor and subsequently his Army Equitation Instructor qualification (B2) under the instruction of the late Olympic medalist Capt. Ben Jones. On obtaining his British Horse Society Instructor (CEF and International Level III equivalent) he returned to civilian life. Ten years were spent in Canada both as chief instructor of the Halifax Riding and Driving Club and as chief instructor and manager of his own Halifax School of Equitation. He also competed in show -jumping at Grand Prix level on his own and other horses. On his return to England in 1980 he joined the Royal Mews, where for twenty years he schooled horses to riding and carriage driving roles in State ceremonial. On his return to Nova Scotia in 2001 he runs Rhaman Equestrian Services in East Hants Co. with his wife Dee, also a qualified riding instructor, where he is actively engaged in daily schooling and instruction with his various clients in both riding and driving. Terry Myers is a leading trainer, champion rider and breeder, and national clinician. Myers has trained stock and hunter horses for state, national and world competition for over 30 years. His training incorporates work with both horse and rider to achieve balanced movements. His Ridein-Sync™ philosophy helps students understand how body position affects horse performance. Horse & Rider magazine selected Myers to judge Conformation Clinic. He is also a regular advice columnist for Horse & Rider's Sound Advice column. Myers hosted an Internet chat on EquiSearch.com, an online magazine, and continues to answer visitors’ training questions. Stone Horses made a model of Myers’ Stallion, Reckless Obsession, in 1998. For its 2002 Western pleasure line, Stone has added a model of Ima Lil Reckless, a daughter of the stallion. Growing up and working on the family dairy farm; life has never been dull for Brenda McKibbin. One of her first memories was of wanting a horse. Thankfully those aspirations were nurtured and Brenda had the opportunity to also grow up riding, driving and showing Shetlands, Hackneys and Saddlebreds. Animal health became a passion; working in a mixed animal practice for many of her teenage years and then graduating from Centralia College with an honors diploma in Animal Health Technology. The comprehensive animal health background Brenda developed lead to a position with Vetrepharm; now known as Bioniche Animal Health Canada. Fifteen years later, she continues to grow with the Bioniche and is the Equine Sales & Marketing Manager. Ross Millar is President of the “Rodeo Management Group” and the creator of Ontario's “Dodge Rodeo Tour” and the “Toronto Royal Winter Fair Rodeo”. Actively competing in Rodeos, his accomplishments include “Ontario Roping Association Champion”. Ross's involvement in the Equine Industry is extensive as he is also a Director of the Ontario Equestrian Federation. We are thrilled to have Mr. Millar as M.C. of the Can-Am Home Hardware Extravaganza. Doug Nash served as farm manager at Glengate (formerly Cantario Farms) for 23 years. Glengate consisted of 3 farms, housing approximately 80 mares, 8 stallions and 60 yearlings. Raised near a commercial standardbred breeding farm and local fairgrounds, Doug spent his youth working on the farm and training and racing in Ontario and Michigan. His first love was always the farm and in l974, he took over the management of a farm with 6 stallions and 130 mares. Since that time, he has personally attended over 2500 foalings. Doug has witnessed and participated in the evolution of artificial insemination, the freezing of semen as well as embryo transplants. Dr. Cesar Parra, DDS; MScD received his Dressage education in Germany from many famed top instructors such as, Herbert Rehbein, Herbert Kuckluck, Siegfried Peilicke, Hans Rueben, Hubertus Schmidt, and Dr. Volker Moritz. He has earned his credentials from various prestigious events including the Official FEI Dressage Judges Course, the USDF Trainers Conference, the North American Trainers Club, the Global Dressage Forum, several Judges meetings with Mariette Whitages, Raymond Withages, Linda Zang and Hubertus Schmidt, and the ESDCTA Trainers, Judges and Competitors Symposium. Dr. Parra has competed extensively, winning many prominent shows including several CDI GRAND PRIX He has competed in the World Cup Finals, placing 8th in the Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen, 4th place Intermediaire Freestyle at th CHIO Aachen, 8 place Grand Prix Special at CHIO Aachen and qualified for and competed in the Olympic Games, the World Equestrian Games and the Pan-American Games. Susan Raymond is involved with both the communication and industry education programs of Equine Guelph. Susan's past area of research was the improvement of air quality in the stable through stable design and management and has made numerous contributions to industry education both in-print, multimedia and presentation form. Like many of you, she has been involved with the horse industry for many years and is a keen rider. Susan has had a variety of experiences within the horse industry, from exercising young racehorses to jumping, dressage and trail rides. Most recently, she has had the opportunity to work endurance horses and has even competed in a number of "ride and ties". "Horses are not only a part of my professional life but are my true passion and take up much of my social life", says Susan. I’m Shorty Leggs, Rodeo Clown and Entertainer for A-K Rodeo. I’ve been a clown in Ontario since 1998, when I retired from Bull Riding. During my last year as a Bull Rider, I won the St.-Tite Rodeo for the second time and also won the Dodge Rodeo Tour, which was my original goal in the first place!
