1984 Peter Etheridge was re-elected President, Barbara Colyvan as Secretary. Her Assistants for Camp were Jan McKenzie, Maree Wheeler and Wendy McNamara. Jenny Colless was Treasurer, due to the resignation of Thelma Pearson. Patrons were Messrs Nick Scholefield, Eddie Gleeson, Reg Melbourne and Sid Campbell. Peter Etheridge was elected President for the second year, to be assisted by Vice Presidents: Trevor Madden, John McNamara and Eric Jansson. Julie Ireland ran the clothing pool. Pam Thomas had been organizing the club's Publicity since 1975! Alan McMaster was the Senior Instructor and Flo Bradford was Instructor Organiser. 1984 was a very successful and eventful year for the club. From numerous monthly meetings the club was able to provide beneficial outcomes. Some of these were the receival of the Past Presidents and Secretaries Board in memory of the late Mr Col Crawford. Life Membership awarded to Mrs Barbara Colyvan for the dedication of ten years as secretary and hard work for the club. A dinner was held in the showground pavilion to honour Sid Campbell who was presented with Life Membership of Zone 5. In April 1984 the club decided to invest $1000 towards cattle to help fund the rising cost of insurance. Two cows and calves and 1 steer were purchased from the Narrabri Store Sale. They were held on Alan McMaster's 'Violet Downs' property to help keep costs to a minimum. On hand already the club had five cows and calves being agisted on the properties of various Pony Club members through good and bad times. A new committee was also formed consisting of Ian Falkiner, Bevan O'Regan and Peter Etheridge to oversee the buying and selling of cattle for meat for camp. The separate Gymkhana Committee was disbanded after a motion was put forward that the Narrabri Pony Club Gymkhana Committee be elected at the annual General meeting each year. The first committee of five people consisted of Graham Wilkinson, Norm Jones, Peter Dampney, Ross Hull and Margaret O'Regan were then elected. The Club was also successful with an application to council to lease the Dangar Park compound for future use to run cattle and with the help of President Peter Etheridge. They also purchased a F500 Ford 5-tonne truck used for the movement of heavier items and sporting goods. At the 30th Annual Pony Camp the club had a total of 185 campers, 32 purple troopers and over 100 camp personnel. The year was once again boasted as the biggest week long camp in NSW. 1984 Grand Champion Rider was Lyn Petrie riding her grey mare "Holly". Red Troop led by Alan Ross won the Inter- Troop Proficiency Trophy for the third year running. For the first year a Sash was presented to the Champion Section in the Senior Troops in Memory of Past President Mr Col Crawford. This award was won by Black Troop No 1 Section whose Troop Leader was John Tout. A section of Narrabri Pony Club riders were sashed Champion Section at the Narrabri Centenary Show as well as the Baradine, Wee Waa and Gunnedah Shows. The team of four consisting of Adam O'Regan (Lightening), Pernelle Jansson (Alkira), Christen Wilkinson (Troy) and Prisilla Finlay (Jody).
