For a little more solitude, wander a little farther around the eastern corner of Bounty Beach to Malapascua Exotic island Dive & Beach Resort ( 0918-774-0484, email: cebumibr@hotmail.com ). Its Website is at www.malapascua.net. Cottages here are tidy and bright, with private bath and single or double beds (P500 to P600). This resort is run by the friendly Cora and Dik de Boer, who have recently refurbished their dive shop – the only one on the island. Dive trips cost US$25 (introduction dives US$ 27), run all year round, and specialize in shark spotting (mostly thresher sharks). Dis is an enthusiastic ocean adventurer, and he can take you on diving and boating outings to brilliant spots including Chocolate and Manoc Manoc, where a well-preserved wreck lies. He’ll also take you to some choice spots on Leyte, and can even drop you off or pick you up if you give him plenty of notice. There’s a big menu at the resort, including banana pancakes (P50) and buttered lemon chicken (P120).
