REQUIRED COURSE PORTFOLIO CONTENTS FOR
RECERTIFICATION OF GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES
Academic Year 2013-2014

General Directions: Please use the updated forms and at least 12 point font in all
submitted documents. All recertification portfolios will include the following:
1. Cover Sheet: Please use the standard cover sheet included here. Include date
submitted, Course Title, Course Number, GE Section, special IC or WI
Designation(s) if applicable, and names of Department Chair/Coordinator and
College Associate Dean.
2. Form of Contents: Please follow this order and include the page numbers
where we can find each item.

processes correspond to and address the relevant GE SLOs (Forms A, B,

3. Summary Overview: Please address items a-d sequentially.
a. Brief overview of course. Include general size of the course offerings
each semester (number of sections; number of students; mode of
instruction)
b. How are multi-section courses coordinated to ensure that instruction
provided in all sections adequately addresses the SLOs?
c. Discuss sufficiency of resources to support instruction (space, computers,
faculty, etc.)
d. Discuss future plans for the course. (For example: Is growth expected?
Or, are new modes of delivery being considered or developed? )

Students will understand the diversity and multiplicity of cultural forces that shape the world through
the study of cultures, gender, sexuality, race, religion, class, ethnicities and languages with special
focus on the contributions, differences, and global perspectives of diverse cultures and societies.
