SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure
in recognizing Ann Zene Cathey for her 29 years of loyal service
as a schoolteacher with the Rains Independent School District; and
WHEREAS, A talented instructor, Ann Cathey began her
successful career with the Rains Independent School District as
a substitute teacher; she joined Rains Elementary School as a
first grade teacher in 1973 and became a sixth grade English
teacher at Rains Junior High School in 1984; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to her work, Ann Cathey assisted with a
wide array of student activities over the years and distinguished
herself in her profession; she has been serving as the chairperson
of the Rains Junior High School English department; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cathey's students greatly benefitted from her
skillful teaching methods, her sincere concern for the individual,
and her wise counsel and encouragement; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated and resourceful educator, Ann Cathey
instilled in her students an appreciation for hard work and a love
of challenge and learning; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
74th Legislature, hereby commend Ann Zene Cathey for her many
contributions to the educational system of Texas and extend best
wishes to her for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
