CRITIQUING YOUR ARTWORK
Hilary Russell, Instructor
Artist, Hilary Russell has juried many shows throughout the Willamette Valley. She has
presented critiques of work after the jury process has been completed. During the first
session the participant is provided critique under Hilary's guidance. In subsequent
sessions, the participant may bring back their work with improvements or may bring in
different works for discussion. The class will explore many possible ways to make the
artwork stronger. Attend one or all of the classes, gaining more insight with each session.
Wednesdays, Oct 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and Nov 5, 10 am - noon.
Six 2 hour classes: $30 for each class
Registration deadline: 5 days before class starts.
WATERCOLOR COLLAGE
Marilyn McMurray, Instructor
The student will learn to use watercolor and collage to create paintings with depth and
interest. Learn to layer paper backgrounds, how to adhere paper to paper and canvas, how
to plan a painting on top of collage, then protect and finish the piece. Some supplies
provided.
Saturdays, Oct 4, Nov 1, Dec 6, all classes 1 am - 4 pm
Each 3 hr class: $60

THE ANCIENT ART OF ENCAUSTICS

Workshop #1 - Encaustic Collage
Learn hot wax fusing & texture techniques. Everything provided for you to leave with
two 5"x5" completed paintings; bring your own embellishments if you wish, such as lace,
buttons, decorative papers.
Workshop #2 - Encaustic Photo Transfer/Oil
Learn 'fusing' wax, oil, stamping & transfer techniques. Everything provided for you to
leave with two 5"x5" completed paintings.
Workshop #1 - Thursday, Oct 16, 12:30 - 4:30 pm
Workshop #2 - Thursday, Oct 23, 12:30 - 4:30 pm
Each 4 hr. workshop: $55 + $15 supply fee to instructor

BASIC ACRYLICS
Shirlee Johnson, Instructor
Learn to make your paintings look like oils! The student will learn how to prepare the
canvas for underpainting and painting; how to keep the palette wet, how to mix colors and
make them vibrate. Shirlee Johnson is an accomplished artist who teaches acrylic classes
three times a year only.
Fridays, Oct 17, 24, 31, Nov 7, 10am - 1pm
Four 3 hr. classes: $100

DRAWING FROM OBSERVATION
Dwight Evalt, Instructor
A fun, basic drawing class for everyone ages 12 and up. Students will learn the basic
techniques of drawing from observation. Topics will include line drawing, negative space,
focus on detail, chiaroscuro, and still life. Bring a pencil and some interesting objects to
draw. Dwight is a former high school teacher.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: A full refund, less 20% processing fee, will be given if a
student withdraws from class more than one week before the first class starts. No refund
will be given if the student withdraws less than one week before the class begins. In the
event Currents Gallery cancels a class, the Gallery will mail a full refund to the student.

WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP:
An open class every other Wednesday starting in October
Acclaimed artist, Andy Charles, will lead this on-going workshop. He will provide both
one-on-one and general class instruction covering many painting techniques including
washes, dry brush, layering colors, controlled washes, color coordination and more.
Available will be basic drawing techniques for beginners, and help perfecting skills for
more advanced artists. Bring your own supplies, pay only for the sessions you attend.
Every other Wednesday, Oct 1, 15, 29, 1pm-3pm
Each 2 hr session: $25
Registration required one week before each class.
ART PLAY DAY
Join other creative artists in making art. This is open studio time to interact, have fun and
be supportive of other artists. You'll have the opportunity to work with all mediums while
exploring new projects and methods. Bring your own supplies to use or share.
Every Tuesday, starting Oct 21, 1pm-3pm
$5 per session, pay when you arrive.
LIKE TO PAINT WITH FRIENDS? JOIN THE ALL MEDIA PAINTERS

Attend as many sessions as you like, only pay for days you are there. For more info or sign

Every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 am to Noon.
There is a $5 fee for each three-hour session.
