LOCAL WILDLIFE SITE* MODEL DEVELOPMENT CONTROL
POLICY
"Development likely to have an adverse effect on a Local Wildlife
Sites (LoWS), will not be permitted.
In exceptional circumstances where it can be clearly demonstrated
that there are reasons for the proposal which outweigh the need to
safeguard the biodiversity value of the site, the authority will use
conditions and/or planning obligations to provide appropriate
mitigation and compensatory measures, of at least an equal value,
to ensure there is no net-loss of relevant habitats to support the
original biodiversity value of the site."
*Local Wildlife Sites (LoWS) were previously referred to as County Wildlife
Sites (CoWS) or Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC).
