EUCC has 750 members and member organisations and 7 professional offices. EUCC advocates best practice by developing new policies, mobilising experts, providing advice and information, and implementing demonstration projects. EUROCOAST is an association of scientists, engineers and decision makers within the European Community, providing a network of cooperation and exchange between different disciplines and interests. Established in 1989, its aim is to act as an international network for the exchange and dissemination of information and experience. The main mechanism by which it achieves this is through a biannual conference, LITTORAL. The Organization: EUROCOAST Portugal Association will host the 2002 Conference in Porto, Portugal. The Conference will mix plenary, parallel and poster sessions with a half-day Study Visit. It will include also (by invitation) the half-day workshops “Living With the Sea: Managing Natura 2000 Sites on Dynamic Coastlines” (http://www.english-nature.org.uk/livingwiththesea), “FutureCoast 2002: Using Geospatial Technologies for Integrated Coastal Zone Management” (http://www.futurecoast.co.uk) and "ICZM under the EU Coastal Strategy" (http://www.eucc.nl). Social events will include Registration Reception, a Civic Reception and a Conference Dinner. Extended abstracts of up to two pages (including illustrations) should be submitted. They must be 1.5 lines spaced, on Times New Roman – 11pt and must list the title of the paper, the authors (s) name(s), affiliations, full address, facsimile/telephone numbers and E-mail. Author(s) should identify the Theme most appropriate to their paper. Authors will be notified of preliminary acceptance. Final acceptance will be based on review of the final paper and payment of the Conference fee. Instructions on the format of the paper and a copyright release form will be sent to authors. – Submission of the final paper is understood to be a firm commitment to attend LITTORAL 2002. Presentations should be applicable to a multi-disciplinary audience. Accepted papers will be published in the Conference proceedings.
