English teachers needed for HKPS in sunny southern TAIWAN HsinKang Primary School in Chiayi county, Taiwan needs English teachers Requirements: - patient, well organized, enthusiastic. - one year commitment - Native English speaker - Bachelor’s degree or higher - Teaching license (as required to teach at a public school in your home country) Note: we may consider a highly experienced teacher without a teaching license but only if they do not require a work permit or ARC from the school. (less than 90 minutes to Taipei) The ocean is 30km to the west. (part of the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area) The Alisan mountain National Scenic Area begins 20km to the west. The famous Alisan National forest is 60km west of Singang. The popular Guanzihling hot springs resort is also nearby. More about Singang Township The school is located in the Township’s central town – also called Singang - and is surrounded by other small villages and peaceful green fields. The main crops are rice, sugarcane, vegetables, fruit and flowers. Close by to the school is the township library, Chiayi county Museum of Natural History, The Ceramic Museum, and the Incense Park. Singang has many temples including the famous Feng-tien temple in the center of town. Feng-tien temple attracts thousands of Pilgrims every year who make amazing, colorful processions to the temple. Feng-tien temple also hosts Taiwan’s largest cultural festival during the Chinese new year period and a huge pilgrimage procession from Taichung county in the spring. Our school hosts the pilgrims for two days during which there is a two day school holiday. About southern Taiwan’s climate Because Taiwan has very high mountains there are very different climatic regions on the island. For example, for the 6 month period October to March: - The Chiayi area has -- 5 rainy days per month on average. - The Taipei area has -- 14 rainy days per month on average.
