Proceedings of 10th Global Business and Social Science Research Conference 23 -24 June 2014, Radisson Blu Hotel, Beijing, China, ISBN: 978-1-922069-55-9 Assessing the Sustainability Policy for Taiwan Lumber Industry Wei-An Chen and Jun-Yen Lee Due to the factors of awareness of environmental protection in 90’s, reducing domestic-harvesting logs supplies, and instability of wood product imports in terms of quantities and price, Taiwan lumber industry has experienced the problems of sustainability. This study will introduce multi-criteria analysis to explore the sustainable policy for the industry by interviewing and sending questionnaires to local lumber manufacturers and forest experts to collect information. The information will include the possible solutions leading to the sustainability of the industry. Our results will unveil the current sustainable issues on the industry, develop sustainable indicators for the industry, and suggest the preferred policy for the industry’s sustainable development.
