Nominated as a Leadership Award representative from among 60 captains in the brigade. Led 293 soldiers while supporting an 850-man squadron with everything from food, maintenance, fuel, supplies to medical care. Awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding leadership as a commander. Cavalry Troop Commander Awarded the Bronze Star for actions during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Responsible for 132 men while deployed in combat. Charged with maintaining and protecting 24 combat vehicles and 9 support vehicles valued in excess of $90 million. Appointed as the military governor charged with the rebuilding of the cities of Khanaqin and Balad Ruz, Iraq, Tasks included establishing and training police forces, fire fighters, city council and a border guard. Established a new government for Khanaqin, and directed all aspects of the first free election in the city. Created a 346-man Iraqi border guard from inception to execution. Secured and wrote contracts, designed functional organizational templates, rebuilt facilities and worked within the societal norms of a foreign culture. Squadron Plans Officer Developed the plan that deployed an 850-man unit from Fort Hood, Texas, to Iraq. Planned 5 successive offensive operations resulting in the seizure and destruction of critical Iraqi military elements from Baghdad to Mosul to the Iranian border. 2001-2002 4th INFANTRY DIVISION, UNITED STATES ARMY, Fort Hood, TX Assistant Division Training Officer Responsible for the Division Tactical Command Post, providing forward command and control for a 20,000 soldier division during combat operations for the Army's only digital division. Coordinated training and other events involving the 4th Infantry Division and partnered National Guard units. 1998-2000 3rd SQUADRON, 7th U.S. CAVALRY, UNITED STATES ARMY, Fort Stewart, GA Troop Executive Officer Rated as the best of 7 executive officers on two consecutive Officer Evaluation Reports. Served as second in command of a Cavalry Troop with 130 soldiers and over $100 million in equipment. Successfully managed 14 mechanics resulting in the highest readiness rating out of 7 units. Managed the Troop Maintenance and Supply Budget of approximately $300,000. Scout Platoon Leader Selected to command a platoon normally reserved for more senior lieutenants. Responsible for the training and welfare of 30 soldiers and equipment valued in excess of $5 million. Planned and supervised the deployment of 137 soldiers and equipment to Kuwait for Operation Desert Spring.
