Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Bird Island City Council
September 4, 2005 at 10:00 PM
Schneider absent.
An emergency meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Heyl to discuss
the possible use of the Bird Island Business Center (BIBC) to temporarily house evacuees
of hurricane Katrina. The BIBC is currently owned by the Bird Island EDA. Members
of the EDA Board were polled and agreed to transfer ownership to the City for not more
than one year for this relief effort. A motion was made by Engelmann and seconded by
Woelfel to adopt Resolution 12-05, accepting temporary ownership of the BIBC to offer
housing to evacuees of hurricane Katrina.
Passed unanimously.
