NEKIA Urges Support for Students Displaced by Hurricane Katrina
WASHINGTON – The National Education Knowledge Industry Association
today expressed deep sympathies for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and urged local,
state and federal government agencies to focus priority attention on students who have
been displaced.
“We join the rest of the country and the world in expressing our heartfelt
sympathies for all who have suffered from Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath,” said
NEKIA President Jim Kohlmoos. “It is now critically important to very quickly address
the immense needs of affected K-12 students in the days and weeks ahead. We support
efforts to give priority attention to our school children at a time of great need. We are
committed to doing all that we can to support the recovery and rebuilding efforts. ”
