AGENDA ITEM NO: 6 Lincolnshire Coastal Flood Risk Awareness Campaign A campaign that will raise awareness about the risk of flooding on the Lincolnshire coast to residents and businesses has been launched by partners in Lincolnshire. The campaign, organised by Lincolnshire County Council and the Environment Agency, will run until March 2011 with the message ‘We’re prepared for coastal flooding in Lincolnshire – are you?’ The campaign is designed to encourage residents and businesses to take steps to protect and prepare themselves in the event of a flood. The campaign asks residents and businesses to ‘make a call’ and ‘make a plan’. Market research was carried out with a sample of residents in Lincolnshire, which has helped shape and develop the campaign. We want to reach people through community engagement as well as the visual campaign. We would like to make your committee aware of the campaign, how we are going to deliver it and how you can help us reach the most vulnerable at-risk groups. Whilst the Lincolnshire coast is better protected than ever before from the possibility of flooding, the impact of coastal flooding could be severe and people need to be prepared for such an event. Please find attached a campaign leaflet. Further information about the risk of coastal flooding and the campaign itself can be found here www.lincolnshireprepared.co.uk.
