He had a relationship with a free colored woman named Anna Lucie Assenius , who was born in about 1776 and was baptized in the Lutheran Church on St. Croix on 25

December 1777. 56 She was the daughter of Erich Holgersen Assenius (1743-1781) and Charlotte Amalie Bernard (1753-1856).

He was married on 28 June 1798 in the St. Croix Dutch Reformed Church to

Carolina Magdalena Grutsmann , 57 who was born on St. Croix in 1777, the daughter of

Tycho Christian Grutsmann . She was baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church in

1777.

On 10 May 1800, in a deed of gift, he gave to his two sons by Anna Lucie, his property at 47a & b (later 46c & d) Hill Street, Christiansted.

As a boy he was sent to Denmark to school and on 16 April 1817, he passed his law exams and became exam. jur.

He returned to the West Indies in 1818, and for many years was the manager of the customs treasury in Christiansted. He also later held several high government positions.

He was married at home in Christiansted by the Lutheran Mission Pastor, on 25

August 1821, to Sophia Magdelena/Margritte Cappel ,

who was baptized on St. Croix on 11 September 1796. Sophia Magdelena died in Copenhagen on 10 September 1835.

Royal Government.
