CONGRATULATIONS TO BETH WILSON P6 HER WINNING PTSA LOGO. FEBRUARY 2013 FLOWER PLANTING IN THE VILLAGE We are in the initial stages of organising a joint effort with St. Mary’s Primary School, Brookeborough PTA to plant bulbs/ flowers in the village. We also would like to enlist grandparents help with the planting in this event. Together with the children we hope to come up with some interesting ideas. OUR THANKS The, ‘Pudding Night’ in December raised £656.50. We were delighted with this. There was a huge range of homemade desserts kindly donated by parents and friends. Anyone with a ‘sweet tooth’ certainly had lots of choice. We are very grateful to Mr Paul Williamson, from The Valley Hotel, for judging our pudding competition. Congratulations went to Mrs Elaine Dunn for her delicious sticky toffee pudding. Many thanks to local businesses and stall holders who generously provided prizes for the night. Thanks also to Mrs Hazel Cuthbertson from Pampered Chef for an enjoyable pudding demonstration. PROVISIONAL DATES Bag Packing in Tesco: Saturday 1st June 2013 School Fete: Friday 14th June 2013 We welcome any new fundraising ideas that you have heard of and our aim is to continue providing extra resources for your child. ‘Pudding Night’ The PTSA is now into its second year. The sum of money that has been raised to date stands at £3529.45. A very big thank you is extended to parents, family and friends who have helped to support the fundraising events and helped us to raise this money for the school. WHO BENEFITS FROM THIS MONEY? PRIZE WINNERS Well done to Beth Wilson in P6. Beth’s design was chosen for the winning PTSA logo. Other winners included Joshua Ovens, Oliver Wilson, Joshua Coalter, Joshua Granleese, Rhys Bogue, Ben Wilson and Chloe Farrell. The children received book vouchers as prizes. We really appreciated Brian Donaldson and his staff from the Impartial Reporter,for judging this competition. The children benefit from the money raised. Resources purchased/ events supported since September 2012, Tickets were purchased for the children to attend, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ at the Waterfront, Belfast. Games purchased for wet playtime, eg Twister, boardgames, Monopoly, Ludo. New text books for the maths scheme, ‘Active Maths,’ have been added to for pupils in P6/P7. Resources for this scheme have also been purchased for Mrs Robinson’s class. This is an excellent scheme. £500 has been given towards the cost of transport to swimming lessons in the Forum. We know that the opportunity to attend the Forum is very important within the schooling of your children.
