About Magdalene Odundo:
Magdalene Odundo (born 1950) is considered to be one of the foremost contemporary
ceramic artists working today. Odundo was raised in Kenya and India moving to England in
1971 to pursue graphic and commercial arts; instead, she started working with clay. She
explored the medium in pottery workshops in Abuja, Nigeria, and Kenya, as well as pueblos
in the American Southwest. Odundo’s works reference both African and European
modernist forms and refer, more generally, to world ceramic history and technique.
Magdalene Odundo’s vessels will be exhibited from July 31through October 9.
