PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2011 (or date of hire) Supervisor of Instructional Technology REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent for Communications and Technology Services BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Valid post-graduate educational license Teaching endorsement(s) Graduate degree in Instructional Technology preferred Leadership experience Ability to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the instructional use of technology in the classroom Develop, implement, and manage Division’s plan for instructional technology STATE REOUIREMENTS/OUALIFICATIONS: Hold a Virginia teaching certificate and endorsed in Administration & Supervision. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Associate Superintendent for Communications and Technology Services, the Supervisor of Instructional Technology provides leadership for the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Division’s plan for instructional use of technology in the classroom. DIMENSIONS: Budget Responsibilities: To Be Determined Annually Employees Supervised: Up to Five (including one secretary) Number of Schools: All Number of Students: All Length of Contract: 250 days DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Job Description Supervisor of Instructional Technology Page 2 For Prince William County Public Schools, in accordance with law, Board policy, and administrative directives, the Supervisor of Instructional Technology shall provide effective leadership to ensure that all duties are performed in an efficient, effective, and responsible manner. This shall include: 1. Work collaboratively with all stakeholders in providing a World-Class education. 2. Lead development of recommended long-term, integrated state and local technology plan and annual review and updates to the plan. 3. Lead the work of special Task Force on Instructional Technology work groups, as needed. 4. Work with Curriculum and special program supervisors to plan and coordinate instructional technology within existing and new curricula. 5. Work with the school-based Leadership Teams to plan, coordinate, and monitor the integration of instructional technology into classroom instruction. 6. Coordinate and provide aligned professional development to ensure successful integration of instructional technology into instruction. 7. Coordinate and guide Instructional Technology Resource Teachers (ITRTs) to ensure successful integration of instructional technology at the classroom level. 8. Collaborate with the school-based Leadership Teams on the Professional Performance Process (PPP) of the ITRTs. 9. Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit, screen, and hire school-based ITRTs. 10. Disseminate information regarding instructional technology to all stakeholders including Division leaders, school administrators, school staff, students, parents/guardians, and community. 11. Maintain knowledge of current trends and effective practices related to instructional technology, infusion of technology into instruction, and technological developments of instructional applications. 12. Develop and maintain a digital presence representing the Division’s instructional technology vision. 13. Serve as Division liaison and official contact with state and federal initiatives related to instructional technology. Job Description Supervisor of Instructional Technology Page 3 14. Monitor alignment of Division practices with the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS). 15. Coordinate with the Office of Information Technology Services to successfully integrate instructional software and hardware at the school level. 16. Prepare, analyze, and submit reports, studies, correspondence, and other documents as required. 17. Participate in and oversee the process for schools to identify technology and software necessary for infusing technology into instruction to ensure student success. 18.
